William Sanford Young was born in September 1847 in Georgia.2,3 He was the son of Lebright E R Young and Oney Lucinda Alley. William Sanford Young married Sarah Elizabeth Simmons, daughter of Wilson Glenn Simmons and Jane A Powell, 10 March 1878 in Chattooga Co, Georgia, (married by C W Duval Jr, MG; William was noted as being "of Dalton, Ga.").1,4
William Sanford Young appeared on the 1850 federal census of Murray Co, Georgia, in his parent's household.3 He appeared on the 1860 federal census of Murray Co, Georgia, in his parent's household.5 Wm Young appeared in a census listing of men from Murray County, military district 1039, in Dec 1863 when the militia was undergoing a reorganization. He was noted as being 16 years, 3 months old, a farmer and born in Washington County, Tennessee (probably an error because his father was entered just before William's name and he was definitely born in Washington County).6 He appeared on the 1870 federal census of Murray Co, Georgia, in his parent's household; he worked as a farm laborer.7 He appeared on the 1880 federal census of Walker Co, Georgia, enumerated 7 June 1880. Household: W S Young (31), Sarah (wif - 27), William (son - 1), John (bro - 25), and Guss Simmons (sil - 23), residing in Wilson's district where W S was a farmer.8 W S Young of Walker County bought land from J D McConnell of Walker County for $1060. Property: 40 acres north side of lot 289, 53 1/3 acres southwest corner of lot 309, and 40 acres southeast corner of lot 288, all in 7th district, 4th section of Walker County.9

William Sanford Young was mentioned in the following event: Indenture made 31 Dec 1883 between O. L., M. E., T. T., and M. H. Young of Chattooga County; and W. S., G. E., and J. S. Young of Walker County; also J. S. Young of Walker County guardian of F. A. and F. J. Young of Chattooga County; also G. E. Young of Walker County attorney for C. W. Young of McLennan County, Texas (all parties of the first part) and T McGhee of Murray County, party of the second part. They sold for $1600 parcels of land in Murray County, 9th district, 3rd section containing 120 acres of lot 81 being all of said lot except 40 acres on the north side sold to John Moore, and 60 acres of lot 82 being all of said lot except 60 acres on the north side sold to John Moore and except 70 acres sold to W. R. Coffey. These parcels of land were known as the L. E. R. Young farm containing 180 acres.10 On 7 Jan 1884 W S Young sold land to T H Lumpkin and J A Agnew, all of Walker County, for $300. Property: part of lot 289 in the southwest corner comprising the house and lot in front of the house (acreage not stated) and 3 acres also in lot 289 in the southeast corner containing a stone house and land.11 On 23 Feb 1884 W S Young entered into a trust deed with J K O Sherwood of Queens County, New York. Young secured a loan from Sherwood for $375 at 8% interest with part of his property: 40 acres on the north side of lot 289 and 53-1/3 acres in the northeast corner of lot 309. Sarah relinquished her dower rights.12 W S Young of Walker County sold land to Mrs O L Young [mother] of Walker County for $1000 on 19 Mar 1884. Property: 35 acres of lot 289 (all of north quarter west of Broomtown road except the stone house and lot previously sold to T H Lumpkin), 20 acres in the southwest corner of lot 288, and 25 acres in the southeast corner of lot 309. At this point William had borrowed $375 with some of his land as collateral. However, he didn't pay off the loan and three years later he defaulted. He had $1000 from the sale to his mother but this money wasn't used to pay the loan but for some other purpose - he appears not to have done well with farming or with money.13 He was in default of payments on the loan for $375 and the debt in total was due and payable at once. The American Mortgage Company of Scotland obtained a judgment against William on 4 May 1887 and the property was to be sold at public auction to satisfy the judgment.14

William's property was disposed of at auction Jun 1887 and the following article appeared in the Walker County Messenger newspaper: "Will be sold within the legal hours of sale on the first Tuesday in August next, at the Court House door, to the highest bidder for cash, forty acres of land lying in the north part or side of lot No 289, in the 7th District and 4th Section and fifty three and one third acres lying in the north east corner of lot No 809, in the 12th District of the 4th Section all, in said county. Said land levied on as the property of W. S. Young to satisfy an execution issued from the Superior court of said county in favor of the American Mortgage Company of Scotland limited against W. S. Young. Tenant in possession notified. This June 27th 1887. W. A Foster, Sheriff."15 W A Foster, sheriff, sold property at public sale on 2 Aug 1887 to highest bidder, J H Hammond, for $363.80 - 15 acres on north side of lot 289.16 W A Foster, sheriff, sold property at public sale on 3 Aug 1887 to highest bidder, R L McWhorter, for $171.20 - 4 acres northeast corner of lot 289.17 He was listed in records of the death of Sarah Elizabeth Simmons 6 October 1892.18 Have not located in the 1900 census and three of his children were living in Chattanooga with his brother John - he was likely deceased but no evidence has yet been found.

Barbary [-?-] was born likely between 1734 and 1741 (based on birth dates of children).1 She married Jocab Kalor circa 1761 (based on likely birth date of oldest child, Andrew).1,2 Barbary [-?-] died likely circa 1807 (based on land tax records).1
Barbary Calor made her first appearance in the Loudoun County land tax records of the 2nd Battalion with the same property that Jacob Calor was taxed on in 1782 - this was a 114 acre tract as a tenant of Mrs T Lee.3 Barbary Calor appeared for the first time in the Loudoun County personal property tax lists, 2nd battalion, with no tihthables, two horses and four cows.4 Barbary is cited as Barbary Calor in the personal property tax lists of 1787 for Loudoun Co Virginia, 2nd battalion as being not tithable, having one white male 16-21 years old in the household, two horses and four cattle.5 On 18 May 1787 Barbary Calor, administrator of the estate of Jacob Calor, was awarded 11 pounds, 10 shillings and interest thereon dating from 1 Dec 1783. Barbary was the plaintiff against Daniel Moxley and Daniel Reagan.6

Barbary [-?-] was mentioned in the following event: He appeared in the Loudoun County personal property tax lists for 17 Jul 1789, 17 Jun 1790, 12 Jun 1791, and 1792, always in the 2nd Battalion and with Barbara Calor.7 Barbary appeared in the personal property tax lists for Aug 1795 (with Adam Calor) and 13 Oct 1796.8 She continued to appear in the land tax lists with her last listing in 1806 with the same property as in 1783 (except now under the name of George Lee). She did not appear in the 1807 list but her property appeared in the listing for G Lee's executors "of Barbara Calor" for 114 acres. The same listing appeared in the 1807 and 1809 lists (there were no taxes collected in 1808). There was no reference to Barbary Calor in the 1810 list for George Lee - the acreage appeared as his property with no note.9
